Dr. Victor Fries is a scientist devoted to discovering a cure for his wife Nora's illness. However, a laboratory accident altered his body, making him dependent on freezing temperatures to survive. To sustain himself, he designed a specialized suit that regulates his body temperature and took on the identity of Mr. Freeze. Determined to continue his research, he developed a powerful device known as the "freezing engine," capable of plunging all of Gotham into ice.
