DMM Factory, DMM's figure and merchandise brand
DMM Factory is a Japanese brand operated by DMM.com, a Tokyo-based company active in various areas of entertainment and digital services. DMM Factory presents itself as DMM's manufacturer of figures and merchandise.
The official DMM Factory website opened in October 2020 to showcase the different products developed by the brand. Its catalogue includes collectible figures, merchandise based on various Japanese licences, as well as original creations produced in collaboration with illustrators.
Figures based on a wide range of licences
DMM Factory primarily develops pre-painted figures for collectors, including numerous models offered in 1/6 and 1/7 scale. The brand works with characters from anime, manga, video games and Japanese virtual culture.
Its catalogue includes figures based on licences and franchises such as Nijisanji, Oshi no Ko, Overlord, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Spice and Wolf and Make a Girl.
However, DMM Factory does not organise its entire figure catalogue around permanent product lines. A significant part of its range consists of individual projects developed around a specific licence, character or illustration.
Maid Maison, an original DMM Factory collection
Maid Maison is one of the original figure collections developed by DMM Factory. The series focuses on maid characters created in collaboration with various illustrators.
The artwork produced for Maid Maison is subsequently adapted into collectible figures. The first figure in the series depicts Shiraishi Too, based on an illustration by Haori Io. The collection has since expanded through additional characters and artistic collaborations, with figures notably released in 1/6 scale.
Illustrator Collection Figure and collaborations with artists
DMM Factory also develops projects specifically dedicated to the work of illustrators. Illustrator Collection Figure is a collaboration between pixiv and DMM Factory that turns original illustrations into collectible figures.
The collection was notably developed around the Older Girlfriend × Younger Girlfriend concept, with several illustrators invited to create characters that were subsequently reproduced as figures.
DMM Factory also uses the name Creators Collection Figure for certain projects resulting from artistic collaborations. The Hatsune Miku Rosuuri Ver. figure, based on artwork created by illustrator Rosuuri for the HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 10th Anniversary Illustration Contest, was notably released under this name in 1/7 scale.
Merchandise collections beyond scale figures
DMM Factory's activities are not limited to scale figures. The brand also develops various merchandise collections featuring characters from popular licences.
Its original series include Pokecco, a collection of small character plush toys, Furefriends, a range of deformed characters designed as little supporters, and Urukko, recognisable by its stylised characters with teary eyes and puffed cheeks.
Collectible figures therefore represent one of the main product categories developed by DMM Factory within a broader catalogue dedicated to Japanese popular culture.
